PhD Nerds: Carbon described in one word

Without doubt carbon is the most important element. Perhaps it’s chemistry is richer than the chemistry of all other elements combined. You remove this single element and life would seize to exist. At one end it looks like ugly charcoal and on the other end it is the most beautiful thing in the world in the form of diamond. Even in it’s raw form it shows such rich properties – from buckminsterfullerenes, carbon nano tubes to graphene transistors. It’s impact on technology is immense. PhD Nerds: schrodinger’s graduate student

Time is a mysterious concept. In Einstein’s account of space-time as a unified concept – the only way time differs from other spatial dimension is via a minus sign. While physicists have a much better understanding of time now there are still many open questions when it comes to time-travel. While as per relativity traveling to the future is quite simple (all one needs to do is travel fast) it is still not clear if time-travel to the past is possible due to many paradoxes it poses.
